Active mining projects and exploration sites
The JW prospect is a porphyry Cu-Au target located within 6 km of the >800 million tonne Galore Creek porphyry deposit(s). The host rocks are predominantly a multiphase Late Triassic (?) intrusion dominated by granodiorite with lesser leucogranite, monzonite and dioritic phases, as well as the flanking metasediments and lesser volcanics. Mineralization occurs in both the intrusion and the adjacent metasediments/metavolcanics as both disseminated and veinlet chalcopyrite plus secondary copper minerals. Mapping to date has identified zones of strong epidote (propylitic) alteration, a pyrite zone, and boulders of magnetite-veined, potassic-altered granitic rocks, all typical phases of porphyry-type alteration systems.
At least 13 historic mine workings and prospects across the property. Two main types:• Multiple epithermal Gold-Silver-Copper+/-Barite vein deposits on the southern and central claims, commonly high-grade.• At least four skarn deposits on the northern claims, apparently mined for tungsten, gold, silver and molybdenum in the past.Untested potential for a disseminated replacement style orebody on thrust faults beneath the two major Au-Ag vein deposits, similar to the nearby Isabella-Pearl mine.
The ROYCE claim is located 9 km southwest of the giant Galore Creek Cu-Au alkalic porphyry deposits and 1.5 km south of the Ann porphyry Cu occurrence (the Royce claim area was originally staked by various companies in response to results of exploration work on the Ann and nearby Paydirt prospects).
The Scossa property covers a former producing mine (1930’s to 1941) which mined high-grade gold ore from 5 epithermal veins down to a maximum depth of 400 ft.The property was drilled in 2000, 2003 and 2006, intersecting Bonanza grades in one section of the main Scossa vein.
Gold exploration and development project
The Trek claims cover one of the few known porphyry Cu-Au occurrences in this part of the Golden Triangle not held by the Galore Creek Mining Corp. (GCMC). Work on Trek North was suspended after 2011 when the Galore Creek development project was halted due to an upward re-estimation of the capital costs. The owners of GCMC, now Teck and Newmont, have resumed work on the project in the past few years and it is currently in the pre-feasibility study stage. If a decision is made to proceed with development of a mine, GCMC will complete a mine access road and a slurry pipeline from the deposit(s) across the Trek claims to the mill site 11 km east of Trek. The economics of any mineralized zone on the Trek claims would then be greatly enhanced.
The 2022 exploration program at Trek South identified a major IP chargeability high underlying the centre of the porphyry Cu-Au-Ag system discovered in 2021 and hosted largely by mafic volcanics and lesser metasediments. The IP anomaly extends from the centre of the exposed porphyry system to the NE beneath an extensive, newly discovered area of locally Cu-W mineralized skarn. The IP anomaly is interpreted as being >800 m long (NE-SW), 250 to 500 m wide, and extending to a depth >600 m. An MT (Magnetotelluric) survey conducted over one of the IP lines suggests that the IP anomaly extends to a depth of about 2 km. Three additional IP anomalies flank this main target and remain to be investigated in the field. Although the 2022 surveys were the first ground geophysical surveys ever conducted on this Trek South target, the size and strength of the anomaly, and its location under a known porphyry Cu-Au system and an adjacent area of skarn mineralization, makes this feature a high-priority
