The mine has an estimated 1,500 metres of workings and a ramp decline to 122 metres depth, and closed in 1989 after a 10,000-tonne bulk sample averaged 4.1 g/t Au. Phase one covers surface engineering, geological and environmental studies, permitting and consultation.

The deposit has a historical inferred mineral resource of 227,880 tonnes at 2.14 lbs/tonne U3O8, published by Fission Energy Corporation in 2007. Crews will also prospect the Sandfly Lake tourmaline-bearing pegmatites, and an additional airborne radiometric survey is planned to begin in the second half of October 2023.

The claims include the Upper Sturgeon-Weir extension (three claims, 2,517 hectares), Hickson Lake (954 hectares), Bear (1,699 hectares), Golden Lake (610.5 hectares), Sandfly Lake (four claims, 5,312 hectares), Davin Lake (21 claims, 27,632 hectares) and Highway 135 (five claims, 5,399.7 hectares). Searchlight will review the claims and plan future exploration.

A 148.6 sq km claim block covering the Jan Lake Aplogranite Pegmatite sheets and other mapped rare element pegmatites has been staked approximately 60 kilometres west of Creighton, Saskatchewan, and Flin Flon, Manitoba. The claims are 100% owned with no royalty obligation, are crossed by Highway 106, and are adjacent to and north of Searchlight's Hanson Lake Rare Metals block. Some pegmatites there have been mapped as beryllium pegmatites with anomalous beryllium, rubidium, gallium, tantalum, cesium and lithium.

Preliminary results from high-resolution aeromagnetic and radiometric airborne surveys covering about 42.9 sq km at the Duddridge Lake uranium-copper project, 75 km northwest of La Ronge, Saskatchewan, highlighted the known Duddridge Lake Uranium Deposit plus multiple additional uranium targets, with the magnetic survey outlining a 5-kilometre long target. The claim area has been expanded to 191.8 square kilometres. The deposit hosts a 2007 historic inferred estimate of 227,880 tonnes at 2.14 lbs/tonne U3O8 completed by Fission Energy.
