Junior Mining Intelligence ("we", "the site") is a research platform for junior mining investors, operated from Canada at juniorminingintelligence.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is written to describe what the site actually does. If a practice is not listed here, we do not do it.
What we collect
If you only browse. Our servers record standard request logs: the page requested, your IP address, browser type, referring page and time. These are used for security, to block abusive traffic, and to fix errors. They are kept for a limited period and then rotated out.
If you create an account. Your email address, a password (stored only as a hash, never in plain text), your chosen name, the type of user you say you are (investor, prospector, company representative), and optionally a phone number. We also keep your watchlist, your email preferences, and when you last viewed your briefing.
If you use the AI research tools. The questions you type into the research chat are sent to an AI provider to generate an answer (see Who we share with). We keep a record of your usage volume to apply plan limits.
If you use "Ask the Editor". Questions sent through the Ask the Editor widget go to a person, our editor, not to an AI. They are tied to your account and kept as a conversation thread so the editor can reply and you can read the exchange later. They are not shared with any third party.
If you buy something or subscribe. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We receive from Stripe a customer reference, the last four digits of the card, the amount, and the status of the payment or subscription. For physical store orders we collect a shipping address.
If you use the Financial Hub. Completing an accredited-investor questionnaire means telling us which qualification criteria you meet. Signing a subscription agreement or requesting DRS documents involves the identity and financial details those documents require. This information is collected only when you choose to use those features, is visible only to you and to our administrators, and is never sold or used for advertising.
If you list a property or a company. Prospector profiles, property listings and company submissions are published on the site by design. Information you enter there, including your display name, company name and any contact details you include in a listing, is public. Inquiries sent through a listing are delivered to the listing owner.
Cookies and local storage
When you sign in, we store your session tokens in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. Signing out removes them.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors arrive. It sets its own cookies and collects your IP address, device information and pages viewed. When a Google Ads campaign is running, the same tag also records conversions (sign-ups and purchases) and may be used for remarketing on Google's network. You can block these cookies in your browser or with an extension such as Google's opt-out add-on without affecting the site.
We do not use any other tracking or advertising cookies.
Why we use it
- To provide the service: accounts, watchlists, briefings, reports, purchases.
- To send the email you asked for: a welcome message, receipts, the daily briefing and weekly industry report if you opted in, and notices about your account. Every bulk email carries an unsubscribe link.
- To keep the site secure and working: rate limiting, abuse prevention, error diagnosis.
- To understand how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax records for purchases and securities-law requirements for the Financial Hub.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to build profiles for third parties.
Who we share with
We share personal information only with providers who process it on our behalf, each for one purpose:
- Stripe, for payments and subscriptions.
- SendGrid (Twilio), to deliver email.
- Anthropic, to answer questions typed into the AI research tools. Your question and the company data needed to answer it are sent; your account details are not.
- Google, for Analytics and, when running, Ads conversion tracking.
- DigitalOcean, which hosts our servers and database.
Some of these providers operate in the United States, so your information may be processed there. We may also disclose information where the law requires it or to protect the site and its users from fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
- Account information: for as long as your account exists, then deleted on request.
- Purchase and subscription records: seven years, as tax law requires.
- Financial Hub records: as long as securities regulations require us to keep them.
- Server logs: rotated on a short schedule, typically within weeks.
- AI chat questions: kept as usage records for plan limits; the content is not used to train models.
Your choices and rights
You can update your email preferences from your dashboard, and unsubscribe from any bulk email using the link in it. You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and its data, subject to the retention rules above. Canadian residents have these rights under PIPEDA; residents of other jurisdictions have equivalent rights under their local law. To make a request, email us at the address below. We answer within thirty days.
Security
Connections to the site are encrypted. Passwords are hashed. Access to production systems is limited to the operator, and credentials for third-party services are rotated on a schedule. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will tell you.
Children
The site is for adults making investment decisions and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
When we change how the site handles data, we update this page and the effective date at the top. Material changes to what we collect or share will also be announced to account holders by email.
