Insider Buying & Selling

Directors, officers and 10% holders must report their trades on SEDI within five days. This board sums their open-market purchases and sales of common shares per company, so you can see where the people who know the ground best are putting their own money. Grants, option exercises and plan purchases are left out.

How to read insider filings

Open-market buys are the signal

An officer or director paying market price with their own cash is the clearest statement they can make. Grants, option exercises and share-plan purchases are compensation, not conviction, and are excluded from the board.

Placements count separately

Insiders taking up a private placement are buying, but at a negotiated price and often with warrants attached. Each company's Insider Activity tab shows placement participation on its own line.

Five days to file

Canadian insiders must report within five calendar days of a trade. Filings are collected every evening, so a trade can appear up to a week after it happened. The official record is SEDI.
