Definition

Metals and minerals essential for electric vehicle manufacturing, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, graphite, copper, rare earths, and aluminum. An average EV contains 10x more critical minerals than a conventional vehicle, driving rapid demand growth.

In practice

An EV uses roughly three to four times the copper of a combustion car, and its motor needs NdPr magnets. Those two exposures are more durable than the cathode metals, whose demand shifts with chemistry.
